Woke this morning to puffy eyes and sneezing.

Thanks, trees.

Decided this was not going to change my plans to work in the yard.

So there.

Today's accomplishments:

Monkey and I cleaned out the chick cage, checking chicks as we went, and changing out their food and water. They, of course, promptly tossed litter in the water as soon as they were put back into the now clean cage. Silly chicks.

I build and installed the okra bed, but I haven't mulched it yet, since I ran out of oomph before I got that far.

I've run the soaker hoses through both south 4X8 beds, and mulched over those. This required the addition of a few decorative rocks to hold the hose in place...which Monkey thought was the coolest thing ever.

I added the rest of the roofing onto the 10X16 chicken pen, and then Monkey helped me catch and move chickens. They looked so funny, digging down through the huge pile of leaves that Amul, Monkey and I moved into there from the patio during his latest visit. I tried to capture it, but they kept looking at my phone. Oh, well, just imagine them head down, butt up, like ducks in a pond. I have since added their nest box, their stick perch, and their water bowl; which they almost immediately kicked leaves into. Silly chickens.

And I finished fixing the soaker hose for the blueberries (which took way longer than I feel it should have), and mulched over that. This was one of those many moments when I am glad I have things like plumbers tape in my house. I rock.

Pulling flowers off the blueberry bushes is so upsetting. It is easier with the strawberries because two of them we are letting fruit, so I can handle keeping the other two in line and making them grow instead. I feel like I'm hurting those poor blueberry bushes...like I'm betraying them and no matter how I explain they just don't understand.

Yes, I'm anthropomorphizing my plants, don't you?

so pretty!! and i totally do that. used to be you could find me sitting in a field of flowers petting the non-flowering plants because no one ever paid attention to them because they were too busy with the flowering ones. and, no, this wasn't in elementary school - i was in college. :)

I think of pulling the flowers off in terms of spaying pets, or stopping breeding animals from bearing in their first heat.

:) gotta be strong and healthy before I get to eat your babies!
